Families have a multitude of shapes and sizes. They may include one or more generations of family members. Family members may or may not have common biology. Regardless of the specifics, families are important and vital relationships which can encompass our greatest joy and hope for the future.
A family is group of individuals with their own needs and wants. Finding harmony between the individuals that make up a family is the focus of family therapy. Like a small and reoccurring group therapy session, the members of a family are encouraged to find their voice in a safe and non-threatening atmosphere.
The application of emotional intelligence therapy can be especially important within family therapy. By fostering emotional awareness between family members emotional confidence can be enhanced. This then allows for emotional relating within an entirely new communication channel.
